“Daughter of the Pirate King” by Tricia Levenseller – Kayla’s Review

’ve always enjoyed Pirate-y content. When I was a younger reader, I really enjoyed the Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyer and this, while being a YA book, sounded like a more grown-up version. It gave me nostalgic vibes and I was really looking forward to reading it.

“Swamp Thing: Twin Branches” by Maggie Stiefvater and Morgan Beem – Kayla’s Review

I’ve loved Maggie Stiefvater’s work since 'Shiver' and I enjoy graphic novels as well. I saw this as a great opportunity to see a collab of two things I enjoy :D I was really looking forward to this rendition of the Swamp Thing story. Additionally, I was excited to be provided with a free ARC by DC to read and review!

“I Hope You’re Listening” by Tom Ryan – Kayla’s Review

I remember being so interested in this book when I first read the description. My first thought was that it reminded me a little of “Far From You” by Tess Sharpe, one of my favorite books that I read a while ago and decided to review this year. I was even more excited to be given the opportunity to review an ARC.

“Sky in the Deep” by Adrienne Young – Kayla’s Review

Part of what got us to create this blog was a group of people on TikTok who had decided to start a book club. I’d never heard of “Sky in the Deep” but it was chosen as the June book of the month for 2020. I was intrigued by the description and really wanted a community to discuss this reading with so I decided to give it a chance.

“All These Monsters” by Amy Tintera – Kayla’s Review

This book intrigued me as soon as I read the summary. It’d been a while since I’d read a monster book and this one really crushed it. My expectations were definitely fulfilled. The only thing I didn’t like is that I now have to wait an entire year before the sequel comes out. Boo.

“Far From You” by Tess Sharpe – Kayla’s Review

This is one of those books that I had on my wish list for literal years before I finally picked it up. The description was really interesting and I’m almost glad I waited so long. The anticipation made the payoff so much better. I thought this was a crazy good debut novel and I’m looking forward to more of Tess Sharpe’s work.

“An Absolutely Remarkable Thing” by Hank Green – Kayla’s Review

I first learned about Hank Green and The Vlog Brothers when I was in High School. I had read a couple of John Green's books and I had discovered them on YouTube and loved every second of the content they produced. When I learned Hank had published his own book, I was so excited, and almost proud, having watched so much of their empire of content as it developed. I bought this book when it came out and left it on my shelf entirely too long. The sequel is coming out soon so I wanted to read this in preparation for my pre-order and I was not disappointed.

“I Will Be Okay” by Bill Elenbark – Kayla’s Review

This book appealed to me for a few reasons. I really wanted to absorb as much LGBT+ content as I could this month in celebration of Pride and when I saw that an ARC was available for this book I got excited. It’s a debut novel and was short enough that I just had to fit it in my schedule!
