About Alex’s Review of “The Girl in 6E” on The Book Brontosaurus

“Kayla read this book when it first came out and has been talking about it for ages. While she would give me snippets of what the book was about, she definitely kept a lot of it a secret, and I’m thankful for that. I finally sat down and gave it a shot.” – Alex

Book Review for “The Girl in 6E”

Readability: 4 out of 5 Tree Stars

When I started reading “ The Girl in 6E” I was not expecting it to start out as it did. I am both shocked and intrigued. I wasn’t sure where this book was going to go from the beginning but it ended up keeping on the edge of my seat the entire ride. Disastrous things could happen at any time with a story like this and it was thrilling as you progress through the story.

Plot: 5 out of 5 Tree Stars

Where to start with this book? While it was a short and fast-paced read there was a lot in it and most of it was pretty heavy. “The Girl in 6E” was very graphic but not in a way that I didn’t enjoy. Deanna Madden works as a cam girl and hasn’t left her apartment in years for fear that she will end up hurting someone.

“None of them really know the true me. I am who they want me to be, and they like it like that. So do I.”

“The Girl in 6E”, A.R. Torre

The camming side of Deanna’s life was eye-opening to me and I felt like it gave more insight into a sex worker’s life, something that I have never read about. Watching the story progress as she tries to investigate a disappearance while not leaving her home was a mystery that kept me up all night. I needed to know how it ended and didn’t put the book down until it was over.

Characters: 4 out of 5 Tree Stars

Deanna’s backstory is heartbreaking and it just made me love her character more as I got to know what she went through when she was growing up and the reason behind why she kept herself hidden away from the rest of the world. Her reasoning makes sense the more you read and the more details you learn about her past.

“Hope, in general, is dangerous. Hope can be the loose thread that pulls apart your sanity.”

“The Girl in 6E”, A.R. Torre

I actually really liked a lot of the side characters that Deanna worked with while camming. Mike had to be my favorite out of all the people she met while doing her job. He was hilarious and really helped her out a lot. My only issue was that, while I liked Jeremy, I wished he had more character development throughout the series.

Wow Factor: 5 out of 5 Tree Stars

When Kayla first told me there was going to be romance in this book, I was super skeptical. It seemed more like a thriller and I wasn’t sure how that would work if the protagonist wanted to commit murder. However, A. R. Torre did an exceptional job of melding them both together and having it make sense.

The other wow factor with the story was the subject matter. It went into lots of details about all aspects, both Deanna’s homicidal tendencies and the sexual content involved with camming.

Final Thoughts: A Mysterious Future

All in all, I found this book to be really enjoyable and I look forward to reading the next one in the future. Although, I am slightly confused at what the next book will entail as this one seemed to wrap everything up pretty well. The ending left everything a little too peaceful compared to the rest of the book and I am curious to see if that will change by the next one.
